Hey, I’m Charlie! I’m a Melbourne-based comedian, writer and Nicole Kidman body double. I’m known for my great legs and my uniquely theatrical, irreverent style of comedy. My work is camp and sincere, blending a background in theatre with elements of improv, sketch and musical comedy. I’ve been described as a “rising star of stand-up” who “commands the stage like a Broadway theatre” (The Music)

In 2021, I made my solo debut at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival with my show Cockatiel, for which I won the prize of Best Newcomer, and an encore season in Soho, London.

After studying as an actor/director for the stage, I made my foray into the world of stand up in 2018 in the MICF RAW Comedy competition. I quickly made a splash on the scene, making it to the state finals and earning a Best Comedy nomination for my Fringe cabaret Community Service later that year.

In 2019 I was cast in MICF’s prestigious Comedy Zone, a month long showcase of the best new comics in the country. Since then I have been working across Australia as a stand-up, playwright and producer, performing at mainstage venues such as Melbourne Town Hall, The Enmore Theatre, and the Brisbane Powerhouse.

During lockdown, I started my own YouTube channel and a weekly podcast POPGAYS, the latter of which won the silver award for Best Entertainment Podcast at the Australian Podcast Awards 2022.

The past two years I have been honing my skills as a writer and theatre-maker on and off the stage, touring my show It’s Giving Char and working as a writer and dramaturg on multiple productions. I have performed on the Sydney Mardi Gras Gala, Triple J’s Joke A Thon and Nova 100’s Hits & Giggles at the Forum Theatre, as well as hosting the Midsumma Carnival Main Stage.

When I’m not brushing dog hair off my clothes, you can find me touring my show Shiny Shiny in Australia, Cockatiel in the UK, on my podcast POPGAYS, and my comedy newsletter Fairy Bread.
